In-school production for fifth grade classes--Grove School Auditorium.
Students in first grade through high school may audition for "Wiley and the Hairyman," a rhyming play written by Suzan Zeder. In the play, Wiley must go out into the swamp to build a hound house for his dog. He must outsmart the Hairy Man three times with charms and chants to keep him safe. Adapted from the traditional southern folktale, Wiley is able to overcome the Hairy Man and realize he has the power in himself to face whatever fears may haunt him. The play teaches young people they can overcome their fears and how to trust in their strengths to overcome difficulties. The play will be directed by Ashley Davidson.
